GUIDED & UNGUIDED RIDES

Sit back and relax. We've got everything covered.

RIDES OVERVIEW

All rides can be ridden as part of a group with a guide (“Guided”) or on your own (“Unguided”).  The routes are excellent regardless.

Guided or Unguided, the group meets up to have lunch together at one of the great spots we chose.  Make some friends, maybe win some prizes, and off you go.  (The cost of the tour with lunch is about what a non-Americader would pay for only the lunch, so it’s a good deal.)

Guided rides include carefully created routes, friendly lead and sweep guides, catered lunches and regular potty stops.  Many include additional special features noted below.

Unguided rides are the same and come with a high quality map, but don’t have…guides.  (You probably could have guessed that)

WHAT IS A GUIDED TOUR?

WHAT IS A GUIDED RIDE? (psst, it’s your best bet to a great day of riding.)

Americade Guided Rides are group rides, with at least two tour guides, and are based on what we love about riding (great scenery, excellent and smooth roads, low traffic, and interesting stops). Plus, we find excellent lunch stops and negotiate great food prices for you. They are an Americade specialty and allow you to relax & ride, while our friendly guides lead you to a destination where a great lunch awaits you.

Our guides may provide some commentary via CB. Don’t worry about maps, traffic, getting lost, breakdowns or finding a great lunch spot – We’ve got you covered.

Your day will begin by meeting your guide in the morning on the shores of Lake George, “The Queen of American Lakes” (according to Thomas Jefferson), surrounded by the Adirondack Mountains. We’re confident that there is no prettier place to begin a ride.

Once you meet your guides, your group will head out at a relaxed pace with your guides leading and following the group. Stops will take place at about an hour into the ride and after lunch. During the ride, feel free to ask your guides questions via CB radio.

So, if you’re coming all the way up to the Adirondacks, why not guarantee yourself a great day of riding?

WHAT IS AN UNGUIDED RIDE?

WHAT IS AN UnGUIDED RIDE? (psst, it’s your best bet to a great day of riding on your own.) Americade UnGuided Rides are the best way to experience the Adirondacks or Vermont on your own or just with your friends, without worrying about finding good routes, smooth pavement, great scenery, and good food!

We’ve done all the planning for you, including pre-riding all the routes and testing the great lunches (it’s hard work, but someone has to do it…).  We give you a high quality map to lead the way, noting gas stops, the lunch stop and other sights.

You leave on your own, follow the directions, and arrive at a very special lunch destination where Americade staff will greet you. Enjoy a delicious meal of your choice from the menu with fellow Americaders.

Round trip mileages are approximate.

An absolutely stunning mountain ridge ride (see the photos) with a charming bistro lunch in a quintessential Vermont village.

First, you’ll ride through gorgeous farmland toward the Vermont border, taking in great sights of the Green Mountains to your east and riding through a covered bridge (or two).  Enjoy this relaxing romp because things are about to get very exciting.

You’re headed to a private toll road (we’ve taken care of the fee) that seemingly balances atop a mountain ridgeline to the very top of the second-highest mountain in Vermont.  It’s newly paved, marble smooth, and has some legitimate twisty sections.  Be prepared wowed.

You’ll be in rarified air, 3,850 feet above sea level. You’ll have 360-degree views of New Hampshire to the east, Massachusetts to the south, New York to your West and, on clear days, Montreal’s Mount Royal!

Afterward, we’re taking you to a quintessential Vermont village that by itself would be worth the ride.  Classic inns, white clapboarding, church spires…the whole deal.  And, in the village we’ll stop for lunch (on us) at a quaint bistro that has a great reputation for making great food.  You’ll love the food, you’ll be talking about the ride to the sky, and the day is only ½ done!

This may ride may provide the most impressive Adirondack views of any of our rides.

You’ll ride north, deep into the Adirondacks, passing by peaks whose size only grows the deeper you ride into this incredible state park. On good days, in the distance you’ll see mountain climbers hanging from rock faces above, and thin waterfalls vaporizing as they fall hundreds of feet.

You’ll ride up the Whiteface Memorial Highway to the pinnacle (your toll, which can be as much as $30 for a couple, is included in the tour). From the nearly 5,000′ summit, you can see Canada and New Hampshire!

A small elevator will take you from the parking lot to the summit, thanks to President Roosvelt’s demand that the summit be wheelchair accessible.

Lunch is at AAA Four Diamond award winning inn, providing the perfect authentic Adirondack experience. You’ll be wow’ed by the beauty of the inn, the views, and the food.

SPECIAL OPTION! (This is optional/ For those not interested, your guide will bypass this attraction) There is a brand new, tree-top “roller coaster” in Lake Placid, giving you an one-of-a-kind arial experience. This is the LONGEST mountain coaster in the USA, and Americade offers a special, optional discounted ticket to this ride, and your tour leaders will bring those of you interested in this truly-incredible experience.

Mountain coasters allow you to ride in your own cart, control your own speed, and provide as thrilling an experience as you want. Don’t want to go fast? No problem. Want a little adrenaline? No problem.

You’ll have amazing views, lasting memories, and a whole lot of laughs. You’ll be able to purchase this coaster ticket on the day of the ride.

This is a perennial favorite of Americade, and if you haven’t done it, then you really should this year. This is a rare opportunity to ride through so many of these classic, and beautiful bridges while taking in the unique beauty of Vermont’s quaint villages.

This was the #1 rated route in 2019 for good reason (imagine a Norman Rockwell painting).

The highlights of the tour are the covered bridges, which in many cases are more than 150 years old yet are open for use to all. And it’s very difficult to knit together such a good route through so many of them in a single day.
