Rides – Guided & UnGuided

WE OBSESS, YOU ENJOY

You’ve come a long way to get here, so don’t waste a precious day on a bad ride – ride with us instead.  You can relax, because we’ve sweated the details about the roads, turns, quality of pavement, scenery, destinations, and just about everything else.

WANT SOME ALONE TIME?

No problem. We’ll provide you a self-guided route to a beautiful destination for an included lunch. It’s easy, fun, and a heck of a value*.

THEY’RE A DEAL.

The cost of the tour is probably less than the regular price of your included lunch. (God bless group discounts!)

GUIDED RIDES

Sit back and relax. We've got everything covered.

GUIDED RIDES OVERVIEW

Your guided rides include carefully created routes, friendly lead and sweep guides, catered lunches and regular potty stops.  Many include additional special features noted below.

(UNGUIDED AND ADVENTURE ROUTES ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE.)

WHAT IS A GUIDED TOUR?

WHAT IS A GUIDED RIDE? (psst, it’s your best bet to a great day of riding.) Americade Guided Rides are group rides, with at least two tour guides, and are based on what we love about riding (great scenery, excellent and smooth roads, low traffic, and interesting stops). Plus, we find excellent lunch stops and negotiate great food prices for you. They are an Americade specialty and allow you to relax & ride, while our friendly guides lead you to a destination where a great lunch awaits you.

Our guides provide some commentary via CB. Don’t worry about maps, traffic, getting lost, breakdowns or finding a great lunch spot – We’ve got you covered.

Your day will begin by meeting your guide in the morning on the shores of Lake George, “The Queen of American Lakes” (according to Thomas Jefferson), surrounded by the Adirondack Mountains. We’re confident that there is no prettier place to begin a ride.

Once you meet your guides, your group will head out at a relaxed pace with your guides leading and following the group. Stops will take place at about an hour into the ride and after lunch. During the ride, feel free to ask your guides questions via CB radio.

So, if you’re coming all the way up to the Adirondacks, why not guarantee yourself a great day of riding?

You’ll ride north, deep into the Adirondacks, passing by peaks whose size only grows the deeper you ride into this incredible state park. On good days, in the distance you’ll see mountain climbers hanging from rock faces above, and thin waterfalls vaporizing as they fall hundreds of feet.

You’ll ride up the Whiteface Memorial Highway to the pinnacle (your toll, which can be as much as $30 for a couple, is included in the tour). From the nearly 5,000′ summit, you can see Canada and New Hampshire!

A small elevator will take you from the parking lot to the summit, thanks to President Roosvelt’s demand that the summit be wheelchair accessible.

Lunch is at AAA Four Diamond award winning inn, providing the perfect authentic Adirondack experience. You’ll be wow’ed by the beauty of the inn, the views, and the food.

SPECIAL OPTION! (This is optional/ For those not interested, your guide will bypass this attraction) There is a brand new, tree-top “roller coaster” in Lake Placid, giving you an one-of-a-kind arial experience. Mountain coasters allow you to ride in your own cart, control your own speed, and provide as thrilling an experience as you want. Don’t want to go fast? No problem. Want a little adrenaline? No problem.

An epic day of riding up and over some of Vermont’s best mountain passes, coupled with a lunch destination in the heart of one of the most scenic villages in Vermont.

This is a Freedom Pass tour giving you a catered unguided ride valued at $35; sold at $29.

Your Ride: The VT High Gaps Unguided Ride takes you into the heart of Vermont’s Green Mountain range, home to some legendary mountain gap roads, and some known only by locals. It’s an eternal Americade favorite ride, and one that you’ll be glad you took. (Beware, call your doctor if your grin lasts more than 4 hours…).

Your ride is valid any day of Americade Week, so you can cherry-pick the best riding day (a benefit of a Freedom Pass ride).

The morning begins with a ride along the shores of Lake George as you head north and east to Vermont. Among the many sights you’ll see before you enter Vermont will be many stunning lake views of Lake George, some fabulous winding roads, and scenic historic sights.

As you head up and over Lake Champlain, have your cameras ready for the stunning views of NY’s Adirondacks and Vermont’s Green Mountains.

Once in Vermont, you’ll ride through the pastoral lands that make Vermont famous, but the real jewels lie ahead – the mountain gaps.

Vermont’s mountain range runs north-to-south, so to head east/west, Vermonters had to build roads up and over the mountains. Some of these “gaps” are legendary (such as the “App Gap”), and some are less well known. This route takes you to the best. Get ready for twisty, winding, FUN roads.

Your road home takes you through more of Vermont’s beautiful farmland. It’s a gentle ride back to Lake George that’s camera friendly and the perfect end to an exciting day of riding the Gaps.

Your Lunch: Your lunch destination is in one of the most scenic and quaint villages in Vermont. It alone is worth the trip. You’ll dine in an award-winning 1827 inn, virtually unchanged since its creation.

The first $15 of your lunch is already paid for, and you can choose from anything on the menu, and you can arrive any day during Americade Week (benefits of a Freedom Pass ride).

So, if you’re coming all the way up to the Adirondacks, why not guarantee yourself a great day of riding?

A beautiful rural ride above ground, followed by a fascinating 100′ waterfall BELOW ground.

Your ride is valid any day of Americade Week, so you can cherry-pick the best riding day (a benefit of a Freedom Pass ride).

The Ride: There is such beauty in the pastoral, rolling terrain of our region’s farmland. And, you’re going to ride right through it, seeing endless barns, undulating fields, and farm houses, backdropped by the mountains in the distance.

Pick a sunny day, because this ride is all about sitting back and enjoying the gently winding farm roads with no traffic.

Your ride brings you to a fascinating destination. Nestled in in the Adirondacks is a little known deep cavern that has hosted curious travelers for the nearly 100 years since its discovery by cows who we hope were into spelunking, because they discovered a hole in the ground leading to a huge and magical land under ground.

You’ll go on a guided 1/2 mile walk through an unsullied and accessible prehistoric passageway formed of stalactites, stalagmites, and flowstone.

The tour culminates when you reach the world famous 100 ft. underground waterfall. Sure it’s been seen by tens of thousands of people, but seeing it for the first time stills feels magical.

You’ll enter the cavern using a “petrified escalator” (aka 103 stairs).  If you’re claustrophobic, you probably want to consider other Americade Rides.  The caverns maintain a year round temperature of 50 degrees Fahrenheit, so we recommend a light jacket or sweater and comfortable walking shoes. Cameras, pictures, and touching of the formations are allowed, as is not the case with most other showcaves in the US.

Your ticket is valid any day of Americade Week (a benefit of a Freedom Pass ride).

The Lunch: Your lunch will be at a beautiful tavern. The first $15 of your lunch is already paid for, and you can choose from anything on the menu, and you can arrive any day during Americade Week (benefits of a Freedom Pass ride).

So, if you’re coming all the way up to the Adirondacks, why not guarantee yourself a great day of riding?
